We just wrapped up the cultural gala 2024 with the theme “honoring our roots, 75 years of diversity and growth.” As the name suggests, it celebrates and showcases diverse cultures represented at Bugema from the north to the southeast and west in attire, dance, fashion, and traditional delicacies.

Tanzania emerged as the overall winner for this year's cultural gala dethroning the standing champion for two consecutive years-DRCongo. More than 15 countries including South Sudan, Sudan, DRCongo, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, zimbabwe, ghana, Nigeria, Somalia, Comoros, South Africa, and Botswana are represented at Bugema University though only six showcased full course presentations.

Africa is a land rich and concrete in culture, diverse and unique. Witnessing, GEN Z embrace their history and cultural traditions passed down over the ages was truly inspiring.

With the graduation being exceptional, the cultural gala is the only student event that attracts many attendees mostly at the peak hour of dances. The famous graduation square (though not square) usually was the venue for all performances. The crowd eager to feast their eyes created a square ground, the only time the graduation square was truly square.

The cultural gala is celebrated every first semester of an academic year that is the August semester, organized by the Bugema University Students Association.
